Believe it or not, the arrival of 2011 heralds a special anniversary here in Crazy Town…it was exactly one year ago that The Mayor wrote her first post. And much like that first post, this one finds me lounging in my jammies, ever so grateful that the rug rats slept ’til noon, & wondering why every other parent on the planet hasn’t managed to train their own kids that well. However, since I’m really not the sappy, nostalgic type, unless it’s in reference to my kidlets, I have no desire whatsoever to wax poetic over the passing of 2010. While most people spend these few days around New Year’s spouting optimistic niceties & platitudes, I see it for what it is…just one more day marked off on the calendar. Same shit, different year. So far at least. Of course, it has only been a day. But I’m not holding my breath that 2011 will see me swept off to a tropical paradise to while away the rest of my days in sun, sand, & a never ending stream of cabana boys bearing margaritas. A girl can dream though.
In the meantime, I will continue to plug away here in Crazy Town, doing what I do best…running myself ragged chasing kidlets, then coming
here, to my virtual world, to vent about it in a desperate attempt to maintain my sanity. Same shit, different day. Admittedly though, 2010 did bring me something completely unexpected, & highly rewarding…all of the wonderfully supportive, entertaining, & absolutely phenomenal women that I have come to know & love through the world of blogging. It was, & is, each of you that know & understand the day to day crazy that comes with running a busy household, that are there for each other to offer a shoulder, to commiserate, to find the silver lining, & to ensure that none of us ever really feel alone on this wild journey of mothering. This is what has kept me coming back to Crazy Town, day after day, for an entire year now…this community of support giving me the freedom to be The Mayor of Crazy Town, complete with the bleeding eye bobs & ice pick to the brain. Because they get it…& they have their own matching set of ice picks. So in celebration of both a new year, & the one year anniversary of Crazy Town, I want to recognize them, in no particular order of course, by Mayoral decree, as…
The Best Of 2010!
Alexandra at Good Day Regular People
Mom Of The Perpetually Grounded
Tracy at The Daily Mom Diaries
Sandra at Absolutely Narcissism
Kristi at Live & Love…Out Loud
Kimberly at All Work & No Play Make Mommy Go Something Something…
Don’t doubt for a moment what each of has given me in the past year. I wish you all the best for 2011, & all of the niceties & platitudes that you can think to spout…I mean that sincerely! Of course, that applies as well to all of my amazing friends & family who continue to visit Crazy Town, validating what I do here, & helping to make my own little corner of the internet the success that it is today. And since I have another decade or two before I can give up my office as Mayor, here’s to another year of craziness…together!
Signed,
The Mayor!
